Debbie Palen's delightfully demented drawings have tickled the fancy of adults and children alike. She brings her playful perspective to projects in children's books, young adult books, editorial, posters, and advertising. Her work has been recognized by Print, How, and the Educational Press Association of America. She has illustrated several books for girls growing up, bringing her humorous hand to the perils of puberty along with an eye for current fashion. Working in two different media, either rich sensuous pastels or graphic pen and ink, her style is versatile, yet always unique in its vision. When not illustrating, she can be found doing yoga, writing, reading comics or working with her boyfriend on their latest invention: bubble wrap boxer shorts. A partial list of clients includes Random House, Scholastic, Penguin Putnam, Walker and Company, Running Press, Family Fun, Sesame Street/Children's Television Workshop, The Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times Magazine, Yoga Journal, Natural Health, Utne Reader, Girls' Life, Travel and Leisure, Ranger Rick, Proctor and Gamble, and Zany Brainy. |
